Today Angela and I had several peaceful times with our son Leo. Though he is the littlest of the two he is also doing the best. At just under 3.5lbs. he is alert, breathing on his own and able to keep his body temp up on his own. He needs a bit of help with the whole eating thing though. With the aid of a micro-small feeding tube, Mom and a bottle he is managing to eat well during his every 3 hour feeding.Luke is improving today. He still has some fluid in his lungs from birth that is being treated as pneumonia. His breathing has improve greatly since Tuesday and is receiving little to no additional oxygen though an air tube is still in place to provide a bit of air pressure. The pressure helps make breathing a bit easier for the little fella. Luke also received his first taste of "food" today via feeding tube. While Leo has been basking in Mom's arms enjoying smooches, head rubs, cool songs and several milk cocktails, Luke has been stuck in a plastic bubble slurpin' on IV juice. Not exactly TP living....yet.
All the nurses are telling us we have rock stars for babies. The real rock star is Angela. She has been on a rough road that I am sure she will never forget. In fact, I am pretty sure she will let the boys know too that she will never forget. Angela is doing great today. She is moving around much better and is expected to be released from the hospital on Saturday.
